People of the Bargain Book

A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend.

If you love to curl up with a good book under a blanket on these wintry days, or if you’re looking for a gripping novel to take with you on your next trip, you won’t want to miss the AACI Book Sale. The event will take place on Sunday, February 20 and Monday, February 21 from 10:00 am-4:30 pm at the AACI Glassman Family Center in Jerusalem.

Books have a prominent place in the AACI Family Center. Since moving into the new building last year, AACI and AMIT became partners in establishing the AMIT-AACI English library and bringing the lending library to new heights. The library hosts an impressive collection of books which have all been donated including fiction, short stories, mysteries, biographies, science fiction, fantasy, Judaism and more. A cart with books for sale can be found outside the library in the AACI reception area. These paperbacks and hardbacks are often duplicates of books in the library or are on topics that may have a specific readership.

Once or twice a year, a major book sale takes place. Next week, hundreds of books will be on sale for only NIS 5 – NIS 10 per book. All books have been donated and profits will go to support AACI and AMIT activities. Volunteer librarian Rolene Segal said, “I am amazed at the quality of books that people bring in to donate. There is both a wide variety and interesting mix including books published in America and Britain.”

There will truly be something for everyone. The AACI-Cohen Library for the Visually Impaired (also located in the AACI Glassman Family Center) will be selling large print books and books on tape at the sale.

Take advantage of this recycling opportunity to go through your bookshelves, sort out English books you no longer need and make room for new ones! Books can be brought to AACI up until Thursday, February 17.  (English language books only. Please do not bring in encyclopedias, textbooks, school books, or journals.)

Rolene asks that you spread the word about the upcoming book sale and the wonderful English library. She is certain that there are many people out there who would benefit but are not aware of this special resource in Jerusalem.

So “people of the book”, don’t miss out! Hundreds of bargain books are waiting for you at AACI.
