After a break of several years – the next AACI Yard Sale will take place on Friday, October 22 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the parking bay behind AACI’s new headquarters – the Dr. Max and Gianna Glassman Family Center. The center is located at the corner of 2 Poalei Tzedek and 37 Pierre Koenig (opposite the Hadar Mall) in Talpiot.
This is the first time the event is being held at AACI’s new premises and there will be over 50 tables with items for sale. You won’t want to miss this happening. Bargain hunters get ready!
We all know that “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”. A yard sale is a wonderful opportunity to sell possessions you no longer use or to purchase items you need at a great price. Our environment also benefits when we recycle items instead of disposing of them in the trash.
I had the pleasure of meeting AACI volunteer, Sara Landau, who has been helping to organize the AACI yard sales for over fifteen years. Sara defines herself as a “collector” and enjoys the opportunity to sell items from her home and make room for new purchases. She related that at one of her first AACI yard sales, she bought a used General Electric steam iron, similar to the one her mother had when Sara was growing up. The iron is still in use in her home today.
What can we expect to find at the yard sale?
“Everything!” Sara exclaimed. ”Both used items as well as new. You will find previously owned videos, DVD’s, cameras, kitchenware, appliances, toys, books, games, clothing—you name it! There are also tables where people will sell new items such as original jewelry, art work, ceramics, handmade clothing, baby items, as well as food.”
Sara invites you to check if you can still reserve a table and take advantage of this opportunity to de-clutter your home and earn some pocket money. Check your closets, cupboards and bookcases for items you no longer need. Many parents and children enjoy selling family possessions together. Sara suggests that you might also consider sharing the cost of a table with a friend and have fun as you “reallocate” your belongings.
Alternatively, if you have items you would like to relinquish but don’t want to sell yourself, consider donating them to the general AACI table. Volunteers will sell these donated items with proceeds going to AACI activities. You can bring your items to the AACI office until Wednesday, Oct. 20. Any unsold items are donated to charity organizations for distribution to those in need.
Volunteers will be on hand at the event to help with logistics, answer questions and distribute flyers. If you would like to volunteer, please call the AACI office.
Rusty Mike Radio will be broadcasting live from the event.
The AACI Yard Sale promises to be a fun and lively event that you won’t want to miss. Here you will find “everything but the kitchen sink”. No, I take that back. Sara recalls the year when even a brand new double stainless steel sink was sold to a lucky buyer.
